Vasu was a tiffie in the first Malaysian intake at Nirimba in July 1969. Vasu was the "elder" statesman of our intake atook his responsibility of looking after his younger countrymen seriously. In later life he became a successful businessman in the marine engineering and refrigeration fields. He was a devoted family man and rebuilt his home in Singapore to accommodate them as they got married. Gerri and I had the pleasure of visiting him and his family whilst in Malaysia/Singapore 18 months or so ago. His beautiful daughter gave us a lovely tour of Singapore. Vasu was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was only 58.
His funeral will be tomorrow in Singapore. Another good guy gone too quickly
