Almost had to pull out....

I forgot that trains to Melbourne only run twice a week from sleepy old Adelaide, and of course not on the day I planned....

So it is going to have to be a plane ride to Sydney....

Will have to get to the Qantas Club early and pour several sparkling wines down Rhonda's throat to kelp ease her concerns... should work OK....

I'm delighted to finally hear from our Mate, Henry Schubert, who (whilst he may not make it to The Frisco
on Friday arvo,) has confirmed that he is a definite starter for the Rocks Run on Saturday...

This afternoon, I rang The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel and confirmed a lunch reservation for 18 for 1300,
still somewhat shy of the ideal threshold numbers desired, but we're getting there...
I'd already made a tentative booking for 20 for 0930 at 'City Extra' (Circular Quay) for Breakfast


Anyway, Folks, it'd still be nice to see some more names on the list...!

The Lord is Sydney’s oldest continually licensed hotel still trading within its original fabric.

On 29th June 1831 a man named Richard Phillips obtained a liquor licence for the Shipwright Arms on the north-east corner
of Kent and Argyle streets. The next year, because of the support of the seafarers and the workers on Observatory Hill, he
changed the name to The Sailor's Return. In 1838 Phillips sold to a plasterer, William Wells, who lived on the opposite corner
in a two - storey colonial home he built in 1836 using sandstone blocks quarried from the area at the base of Observatory Hill.
Wells continued to operate the pub opposite his home firstly as the Sailors Return, and in 1840 as the Quarryman's Arms.

In 1841 he sold The Quarrymans Arms and on 1st May 1841 he obtained a liquor licence for his home, which he had been slowly
converting to a Hotel since March 1840. He called the hotel The Lord Nelson. The Wells family operated the pub for the next 30
years and the property stayed in family ownership for a further 18.

A photograph of the hotel taken in 1852, during the tenure of the Wells family, was used to complete a restoration of the building
to its former grandeur in 1986. The Brewery was then added (including the addition of the word Brewery to the façade) and a
significant upgrade to the Accommodation was undertaken in the 1990’s, giving us the pub as it is today.

Try not to be too disappointed, Pony, whilst I realise that PW will be conspicuous by his absence, I figure if I fork out for a bottle of red, and in a loud raucous voice,
boast about my cooking expertise and my seemingly endless physical conquests, from EBC and Kilimanjaro to multiple, simultaneous, gratuitous, unwitting sexual partners,
all up and down the eastern seaboard you won’t even notice he’s not there…!!!

Did another recce of the Frisco last week.
Changes; April 24; Schooner $7.50, not a chair in sight.
October 13; Schmiddie (12 oz), $7.50. All tables downstairs high with only high bar stools, or standing.

Opinion of mine host at the Mariners, Frisco has gone downhill quickly.

Last year; Bells schooner $6.00.

Mayhap reason for discussion re venue chaps.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I will have to pull the plug on this years Rocks Run I do hope to you who are attending have a memorial weekend and scare don't scare the Rockites to much
