For those who may have served with L/CDR Bill Callan.


I have been asked and with sadness pass on - especially to the Fleet Air Arm community - the news that after a long illness Lieutenant Commander W.E. (Bill) Callan has died.

Details of funeral arrangements are unknown at this time, but Mike Astbury (02-62471562) may have details in a few days.

Bill was a Fighter Pilot in 805 and 724 Squadrons and had several Air Group embarkations in the then Flagship, HMAS Melbourne.

I have just been notified by Dave Mathews daughter that he died in a car accident on Sunday 4th May 2014.
Dave joined Nirimba from Victor Harbour SA on 4 July 1977.
He was a chippy.

REST in PEACE mate.
