I always remember this story we wre having a party at my place all the Chippies were there

John Buttle gets a phone call that an aircraft carrier fender had broken away from a tug while it was towing it out to Gage Roads to a USS Carrier and had been washed up on Port beach and they needed a chippie to make sue it would'nt break up o the beach

Us Chippies being a democratic lot took a vote for one of us to search , apraise and report back , the vote was easy he was an NS2 the rest of us were NS1 so Megsie was sent of on the fact finding mission with the express orders to suvey the scene and report back to the OOD Leeuwin and stay on hand if needed , we went back to the more serious task of testing the reds.
I think we rescued the fender a couple of days later
