It is with much sadness that I onforward the news of TAD Davies passing.

TAD was a MOBI of the January 1965 intake later becoming a CPO Systems Artificer Power and cross trained in the Marine Technical Propulsion area. A very social person, he regularly joined a group known as
Ye Old Merriment of Mutineers (YOMM) at our luncheons in the RAAF Association Estate at Bull Creek here in Western Australia. TAD had many business interests, a family that he adored, was popular among
his business colleagues and a great mate among the YOMM group and other former Navy friends and associates. TAD was also well known among the aviation and sailing fraternities. He will be sadly missed.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE: I only had the pleasure of Trevor's, or 'Honest TAD's company once, when he made the effort to attend one of our Annual RAN Skilled Hands Sydney Rocks Pub Crawl Smokeys some
time ago, and he had planned on flying John 'Viv' MacLeod and Greame 'Smiley' Rhodes over to last year's Rocks Run in his much-loved Citation Mustang personal jet, but unfortunately, he had to withdraw
again at short notice due to his ongoing persistent health problems.

I found Trev a very likeable bloke, generous to a fault, buying everybody's lunch on that Rocks Run without fuss. He was also very proud of his powerboat 'Nirimba' and delighted in sharing it with his friends...

From his RAN Skilled Hands posts, which he bravely shared, (those I've quoted below starting back in May,) we were all well aware he had very serious health issues, which appear to have finally claimed him...

Dec 12. Hospitalised for 4 days with bowel obstruction. Bowel clears itself. Doctor not sure on cause, orders a PET scan.
Dec 21. Have PET scan
Mid to late Jan. Results of Pet Scan caught up in Christmas period. Finally told results. Results were that I had cancer nodules growing around my small bowel.
Feb 9. Had an operation to explore the cancer and take samples for biopsy. Results were, after 8 years in remission, my lymphoma had returned.
Feb 19. Hospitalised as I had caught an MRSA superbug during operation. Operation wound had to be reopened and cleaned. Wound has to heal naturally. Nearly 3 weeks in hospital with a Vacuum Pump
attached to assist the healing of my wound.
Mar 17. After being out of hospital about a week, the super bug returns I am back in hospital for a further 2 weeks.
April. After a couple of weeks out of hospital I was able to return to work for 3-4 hours a day. Wound still healing with the Vac pump. Can't have chemo treatment until stomach wound heals.

Update.
May 20. Admitted to hospital as bowel not working. Had a CT scan and X-Ray.
May 21. Results of scan show that my lymphoma had grown significatly as well as new nodules had appeared. Decision taken that, despite my stomach wound being a few weeks away from healing, that
they could wait no longer to give me the chemo as the lymphoma was slowly strangling my small bowel. I was feeling quite ill from no bowel movement for several days. In preparation for the chemo they
started a course of steroids.
May 22. Steroids had kicked in enough to shrink the lymphoma and my bowel was back in action . Never been so happy to have several shits. Immediately felt relief and no discomfort. Then had a Picc line
inserted to take the chemo.
Tomorrow I should be having a biopsy done of the new nodules to see if they are the same as the existing nodules. Once confirmed they plan to start my chemo on Friday- Saturday. I'm told the first dose
will be administered continuously over 5 days by means of a pump, so it looks like I'm in hospital until Wednesday or Thursday next week.

I'm happy that chemo is finally being started as it's been 5 months since I had that PET scan.

The good news at the moment is the the prognosis is for a full recovery (lymphoma back in remission).

As I've stated before, the whole saga has and still is a pain in the arse. But knowing I will beat it gives me some comfort. (Posted: Wed May 23.)

it will be around 5th September.

Apart from all that I am feeling really good at the moment gaining strength each day, even back at work. Caught up with Viv recently in Exmouth. (Posted: Tue Aug 14, 2018.)

Sad news indeed, we will all miss TAD. I knew he was fighting the hard battle, but had no idea he was as sick as he was.

Bugger, I really thought Tad would make it through his latest ordeal. He always had a great positive and logical outlook on things. He had battled a number of medical issues over the years, but this latest hurdle has beaten him.

I last saw him in 2014, when he took the time to attend a function at one of our term reunions in Fremantle. He knew quite a few of our term, and he will be sadly missed.

Very sad news indeed. I served with Trevor in Stalwart and met him again in Cairns he will always be remembered as a kind, gentle, affable bloke and a great friend to all. I had been wondering how Trevor was travelling as it it had been a little while since his last post and sadly the reason is now evident. He shared his health issues with us and I am sure we all sharedin his positive and realistic outlook and were hoping for a positive outcome. Unfortunately it was not to be.

Sad news.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Tad, but sort of shared his life through his posts on his Cancer journey. He was honest in his journey and shared it with us. What a journey with all the input of a typical MOBI. Fight as hard as you can but with total realism.
RIP Tad. You fought harder than anyone I know.
