Sad news, I knew Chris for a short time many years ago and through the fog of those years remember him as a very nice guy.
Rest on your oars Chris, your journey is done, may you have fair winds and following seas RIP.

Looking at the Navy List December 1977 he was at Harman as a LCDR GLEN, before that he was the WEEO on Derwent in March 1976 as a LCDR GLEN.
He must of retired sometime after 1977 as he is listed in the Navy List June 1979 in the RANR section.

I remember Dutchy well, he was the charge tiff on Barricade when I joined her in Dec '69, for a 'C' rate I seemed to spend a fair bit of time in the engine room with him and the other's, Barry Moore was the 2nd tiff. I learned a lot from both of them.

The entry in the intake roll for the Jan 1969 intake must be a typo as his actual name is Francis "Frank" Raymond Payne, originally from Broken Hill.

I saw on another site that LSSTD John "Ossie" Osborne passed away on Monday the 8/8/2016, he had Nirimba listed as a posting in his Bio, don't know when though. As far as I know he was suffering from the effects of asbestosis and using an oxygen bottle to assist with his breathing. Rest on...
